There once was a little prince, who journeyed
Through the world, looking for happiness and love.
He found Envy, Poverty, Cruelty, Sloth, Hatred,
Prejudice, and Avarice, and then the little Prince
Looked some more. He then found Purity, Chastity,
Honesty, Faith, Virtue, Innocence and Love. Being
Unable to work through his dilemma he returned to his
Castle to ponder the world and its different faces.
He thought about the qualities he had discovered,
And he wondered about the transgressions he had seen.
The Prince decided to stay away from the world and
Would just stay in his castle and view the world from
His Internet connection. He reasoned that this way the
Bad things from the world could not hurt him. He would
Never experience the good things either, but reasoned
That the benefit of not being exposed to the bad was
Worth the loss. So the Prince locked up his palace gates
And locked up his heart and browsed, and chatted and
Lived in the cyber world, without real human contact and
Used Avatars when he went to rooms and e-mails for
Writing to his "Net" friends.
One day while in a chat the Prince met a young maid,
Who courted and wooed the lonely young man. She sent,
Cyber kisses and cyber hugs, along with cards and pictures.
The Prince was smitten and met his lady every day.
They made cyber love burning up the ways.
The Prince pressured the maid to meet him live,
But she begged and said that the way was too far,
And they must wait and know each other better.
"Besides" quoth the Maid "In your palace you've stayed,
To avoid the ill's of this world" "I could not ask that thee,
Come out here to me as I will not have you harmed."
"We will continue the way that we are, and see,
If we think that our love will endure, then we,
Will make steps to insure that we shall be together,
Forever and I will be your Queen of hearts."
The Prince was placated for a time but then,
Became more insistent that they wed and be
Together in "real life". The Maid agreed,
But stipulated that they be wed cyberly,

As that was where they met and fell in love.
The Prince agreed and let her make the plans.
The Maid chose a cyber Cathedral, with a chat,
Arranged a cyber wedding with cyber brides maids,
Cyber grooms, cyber minister, cyber flowers and
Even a cyber license. The Prince dressed in his finest
State robes and sent the Maid a jeweled crown via the "Net".
He sent the rings for the cyber ring bearers to place
On the cyber pillow and went to his cyber Troth.
Their vows were made and they cyberly kissed
The Prince sent his bride all his best, even
Cyberly sent all his wealth and the keys,
To the treasury, waiting expectantly for his love.
His e-mail alert sounded loud and he went,
To the "Net" and found a greeting card.
The card was sent from the "You've Been Had"
Internet card site and read:
Princie; You should have spent more time,
In the real world learning to watch out for
People like me.
Your Cyber Bride
Saddened and Poorer the little Prince wept.
Then he crawled back to his computer.
He pulled himself up and went back to his "Net"
Seeking solace and friendship where love he
Had met and then lost. He regretted the loss,
Of his love more than things, but counted,
Himself wiser and ready again, for whatever,
The cyber world had to offer. Bitterly he vowed,
He would not be hurt again and browsed and,
We all know it's not over Yet.
