Helm Aim

Pebbles in suit pockets
to keep head
on shoulders
i offered daffodils
to her

she was a bunch
of mimosas + lilacs
petals of lips en sus-over & above

we put
grasses in our bags & poc-
kets
in order to seem "protected nature"
the birds in winter did not migrate
they landed onto
our feet
we gave them blades & twigs

the previous year
i had spent christmas
in a scarecrow jacket
birds had no color
i played with my life
i had no rudder
